This week, the resource is the book, Growing Up by Robby Gallaty. With this book, Gallaty provides an excellent model and method for making disciples. The emphasis of this work is on replicating disciples, not merely adding them. The author provides simple and powerful definitions of a disciple and disciple-making. Gallaty proposes utilizing what is commonly known as Discipleship Groups, or “D-Groups.” Each D-Group is a closed group, made up of 3-6 people of the same gender. The goal of each group is to multiply after 12-18 months. This is also an approach that is independent of a curriculum. Gallaty suggests using the Bible as the curriculum for groups. At Incite, we believe this is the correct approach. Perhaps the greatest strength of this book is the easy-to-implement method for starting and leading a D-Group.
